  • Cécile Fatiman (1771 – 1883) is a revolutionary woman born to a slave mother and a Corsican prince, she is described as a mulatto girl with silky hair and beautiful green eyes. She participated in the Bois-Caiman ceremony in 1791, a triggering event of the slave revolt as a voodoo priestess alongside Boukman. She had the task of sacrificing the black pig and the assistants drank the blood of the animal in order to become invulnerable. This is what will trigger the first collective revolt against slavery in Haiti, a starting point that will lead the Haitian revolution to independence.
